If you live in or around the Pittsburgh area, chances are you’ve seen a Gillece Services van or vehicle on the road with a friendly Gillece Service Technician waving hello to you! You thought right – that’s Tom Gillece! Well, not actually Tom, but a very good likeness (graphic) of him – plumber, neighbor, employer, and owner of Gillece Services.
Tom Gillece was motivated at an early age by a strong internal drive and determination to achieve personal outstanding results with a sense of urgency. While still in high school, he began working part-time for a local plumber and quickly set his sights on becoming the youngest Master Plumber in Allegheny County. Attending plumbing school at night while still in high school, Tom acquired his journeyman plumbing license at the early age of 19 and then passed the Master Plumber Exam at the age of 20, allowing him to realize his goal of becoming the youngest person to pass the Master Plumber Exam in Allegheny County at that time. Tom started Gillece Plumbing and Heating in 1980 when he was only 20 years old. Realizing that he was in a “people business” and not a “plumbing business”, Tom was determined to run his business focusing on the individual – the individual customer as well as the individual employee.
In the plumbing and heating industry, people are not seen on the best day of their life; they are seen on their very most distressed day, when they are faced with a serious problem that threatens one of their largest single investments – their home. Taking this into account, Tom built a service business focusing on putting the customer at ease, from the first incoming phone call requesting service, to the reassuring dispatcher that keeps the customer informed of the progress of their status, every employee is focused on taking care of whatever concern the customer may be experiencing. All of this happens before the arrival of a qualified, skill certified, caring Gillece Service Technician who is not only technically proficient, but is also trained in customer service and communication skills.
