A heat pump is a major appliance that both heats and cools your home’s environment. It also circulates your home’s air to eliminate stuffiness and to refresh the atmosphere. A heat pump is designed to be reversible, working in either thermal direction to provide heating or cooling of the same conditioned environment. When heating, heat pumps move heat from the cool outdoors into your warm house. When cooling, heat pumps move heat from your cool house into the warm outdoors. Heat pumps move heat as opposed to generating heat, so they are known to be energy-efficient.
