This summer flew right by and now August is finally here. You only have a few weeks until your children go back to school and before you know it, Christmas will be approaching. Right now is the time to fully take advantage of all those fun summer activities you’ve want to do before they’re gone.
Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium – Every child loves the zoo whether they’ve been there before or not.
A trip to the zoo has three major benefits that you as a parent are among your top priorities for summer: your children get to spend time outdoors, be active and learn!
Pirates Game – A summer in Pittsburgh is not complete without a trip to PNC Park. Whether you follow the Bucs or not, this is a classic summer tradition you don’t want to miss out on with the family. Enjoy a fun baseball game with a beautiful view of the city.
Kayak on the river – Before or after the Buc’s game, you can rent a kayak and spend a few hours on the Ohio river. Enjoy the views of both the North Shore and the City as you make your way down to the point, the perfect place to stop for a picnic.
Hiking in Riverview Park – Getting into nature is a great way to spend the last few days of summer. Riverview Park is among several in the Pittsburgh area that offers some great trails and perfect places to hang your hammock.
Just Ducky Tour – Even if you grew up in Pittsburgh, an afternoon spent on a Just Ducky Tour is always a blast. The tour guide alone is entertaining and who doesn’t love a vehicle that can operate both on land and in the water?
Kennywood – If you didn’t get your fill of adventure, head over to Kennywood park this month. If you go during the week the lines will be shorter and you’ll get a chance to ride all the rides without having to wait too long in line. Your children will end their fun summer with a scream!
Sand Castle – This month is most likely your last opportunity to spend in the pool. Take the family to Sand Castle and end your summer pool days with a bang spending all day at the water park.
