Gilley says, “The gift of healthy water is one of the greatest gifts of all!”

The holidays should not involve bacteria, virus, algae, mold, lead, mercury… and, neither should your home drinking water!  Out of all of the utilities we utilize, water is the only one we consume internally by drinking.  How safe is yours?  Though the proper water authorities test and report our water for certain contaminants and impurities, it’s inevitable that some go untested and may pass through, which can lead to unpleasant and even dangerous qualities from itchy dry skin to more serious health conditions.

From cleaning clothes or washing dishes to taking a shower or drinking a glassful, water is one of the most vital components of our daily lives and should not be overlooked.  Gillece Services can help to make a difference with an inspection that reveals potential issues with the water that may be affecting the quality of its uses, as well as your own health.  Chlorine Water, Hard Water, Cloudy Water, and Water with a Bad Odor or Taste are all issues that Gillece Services can remedy.  We offer a variety of water cleansing and conditioning systems to remove impurities, soften water, etc, that will make a noticeable improvement in the quality of water.

And, Gillece Services knows that budget is tight, especially around the holidays… which is why we offer Financing Options.  Upon credit approval, our Financing Options include a selection of payment plans with top financial banking institutions, capable of meeting your immediate needs, allowing your repair or improvement work to get done as soon as possible.

Gilley says, “Your Hard Water is Doing More Damage Than You May Realize – Call Gillece For Conditioning!”

Condition your hair.  Condition your body.  Condition your water??!!  Yes, condition your water; your household water.  Hard Water, water that needs conditioned, can be a detriment to your household in many ways.  Hard Water contains actual metals such as dissolved calcium, magnesium, iron, and manganese. When combined with other compounds, this can create annoying soap scum spots on dishes and leave behind ugly Hard Water scales or stains in your tubs, showers, etc.  With Hard Water usage, you will also experience difficulty lathering and then rinsing off body soaps and shampoos, as well as a lower functionality of other cleaning products.  Your clothing may even wear out in your laundry machine much more quickly than normal.  Hard Water can also sometimes taste bad or smell bad from hydrogen sulfide or other elevated levels of metal.

Hard Water scale build-up can form over time, clogging the plumbing through which your water flows.  And, water that is not up to quality can actually damage or prevent use of your water-using appliances due to the creation of scale build-up.  This is typically brought on by heated Hard Water and contributes to the inefficient operation of your appliances, which can lead to very costly repairs. Piping can become clogged by scale build-up, thereby reducing the flow of water, and possibly require pipe replacement and additional plumbing.  Did you know that scale build-up has been known to increase your energy bill? This Hard Water scale can even build up on the inside of Water Heaters, leading to early failure of the appliance.  Instantaneous Water Heaters require quality, conditioned water in order to work properly.

Protect your major investments by controlling the quality of water that is moving through your pipes and related appliances.  Quality water that has been conditioned becomes “softened” and is the right solution to quality water performance.  To learn more about water conditioning, visit the Gillece Water Conditioning Experts at http://gillece.com/water-conditioning/overview/

Protect Your Water from Unhealthy Chemicals

Why you should take control of what’s pouring out of your faucet…

Is your water cloudy? Does it smell? Does it taste bad? Are you seeing soap scum build-up in your home? Feeling dry and itchy?

Our water authorities and companies test large quantities of water for certain contaminants and impurities such as bacteria, virus, algae, mold, etc. Then, they clean the water by treating it with necessary chemicals in order to deliver it safely right to your home. However, an overabundance of cleansing chemicals can truly lead to unpleasant and even dangerous qualities in this most essential utility.

If you don’t believe it, check in with the United States Environmental Protection Agency. They provide a list of chemicals added to water for public use and their potential long-term health effects including disinfectants, disinfection byproducts and inorganic chemicals on their website: http://water.epa.gov/drink/contaminants/index.cfm.

The good news is that there is something you, a homeowner, can do. And, Gillece Services can help. Chlorine – Friend and Foe

…you may be swimming in it, but you certainly should not be showering in it!

Fun -in-the-sun usually means swimming, splashing and cooling off in crisp, clear, cold pool water on several summer days. We’re all very aware that chlorine is a much needed disinfectant for this type of activity, where people from all over share a common body of water. And, we’re grateful.  As you know, several of us take great strides to rid our bodies of chlorine after a nice refreshing swim. We rinse off our bodies, maybe even wash off with soap, rinse or wash out our hair (in fact there are even special shampoos we use for chlorine-exposed hair)…  we even go to the trouble of rinsing/washing out our bathing suit, thereby depleting it of chlorine and its odor.

So, if we go to all this trouble after just a swim in the pool, why then are we not concerned with the very water in which we bathe and shower?… and launder, and even drink!? While chlorine is a key ingredient in water treatment and protection in the household, too much chlorine can be a bad thing.  It is not uncommon for water to contain an overabundance of chlorine. It smells strong and tastes bad. And, it quickly and intensely is absorbed by you, drying out both your skin and hair… causing dryness, itchiness and flakiness. When the chlorine level is too rampant in water, so are these related problems. At an extreme, they’ve even been associated with cancer.

Let Gillece stop you from putting up with overly chlorinated water and its damaging effects. A knowledgeable and skill-certified Gillece Service Technician can perform a thorough Water Quality Inspection, and then determine which Water Filtration System (link to Drinking Water Filtration) is right for your home and budget. Chlorine is always a friend to water when used in appropriate quantities… but, often a dangerous foe when quantities overflow.
